Latest News from Bali
I recommend going to a local bank before you leave and obtaining what ever currency you plan to bring to Bali in the latest currency you can obtain.
Print this page and take it with you for reference.
Hotel exchange rates are generally not very good. We highly recommend CENTRAL KUTA MONEY CHANGER. They have many locations in KUTA, SANUR and NUSA DUA.
We have used this company for many years and have them to constantly have the best rates and the most honest service. In all cases always carefully count your Rupiah before walking away from the counter at any bank, hotel, or money changer. There are unscrupulous people who run scams on these companies and everyone must be very careful and open in all dealings. ATMs are readily available throughout Bali. This is an expensive way to get money. There is a local bank fee, your banks fee and in some cases an exchange fee for different currencies from the card’s issuing bank. If you plan to ATMs, make one or two large withdrawals, as the fee is per use and not on the amount. Credit cards are widely accepted but the merchant will charge you the 3% fee that we are used to the merchant absorbing.
AMERICAN CURRENCY or DOLLARS
Due to problems in Asia with counterfeiting, we cannot accept currency or bills issued on or before 1999 (1995, 1996). Use currency issued in the year 2000 or later (2002, 2004)
Another problem has been with the C Series, The CB Series and the D Series.
The A Series of the $50.00 is another counterfeiter’s favorite and not accepted.
1. NO C SERIES CURRANCY
2. NO CB SERIES CURRANCY
3. NO D SERIES CURRANCY
4. NO A SERIES $50.00 CURRANCY
