Surfing
The obvious sports one would expect to find in Bali are, of course, surfing and diving. There are plenty of these activities. Bali is world renowned for its surf and surfers from everywhere flock to Bali to enjoy the glassy tubes. A word of warning when surfing or diving. It is wise to be well protected from the sun and the currents and use the buddy system whenever you go out. The most popular spots are: Kuta and Legian beach which is hollow barrels over sand bars, and Uluwatu, a very difficult left hander for experienced surfers only. Other spots include Canguu and Medwi, which is north of Kuta. During the right time of year, you can find a right hander off the coral reef on the Sanur side. There are many breaks on the outer islands including Lomboc and Nusa Lembongan. You can rent boards in Bali along Kuta beach; again beware of currents.
Diving
Diving in Bali has grown into a tourist industry in itself. There are many spots all along the coast. My favorite is Pulau Menjangan, a small island off the northwest tip of Bali. This is an underwater reserve protected by the government. Early morning is the best time there. Another great spot is on the eastern end of the island at Amed. Here you can take the dive trip to the "ship wreck". A nice one-day dive trip off of Bali is to the island of Lembongan. You can take boat trips to Sanur and Nusa Dua to view the colorful coral reefs. There are numerous Dive Centers around the island of Bali that take tours and rent equipment.
Rafting, Wind-surfing and Jet skiing
There are many more sports in Bali to keep you busy. They include
white water rafting,
wind-surfing,
