In 1948, the late Raja of Karangasem, Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem, built a water garden around a natural spring. The spring rises up under a big banyan tree at the foot of a stony hill, on which the local community built their village temple. On the way we will visit Pura Ulun Danu Batur, a temple dedicated to the goddess of the lake -Ida Batari Dewi Ulun Danu - on the edge of a huge crater. The dominant shrines are Meru’s (pagodas) dedicated to the lake goddess and the gods of Mt. Batur and Mt Gunung Agung, the largest volcano in Bali. Pura Penataran Agung Batur is the principal temple, with five main courtyards. The dominant shrines are the merus: an 11 tiered one for the lake goddess and three 9 tiered ones for the gods of Mt Batur, Mt Agung, and Ida Batara Dalem Baturenggong, the deified king of Gelgel who is said to have ruled from 1460 to 1550.
We will then have lunch or drinks on the crater’s edge, with stunning views of the still smoking volcano. Volcano Batur is one of the most sacred mountains in Bali, also could be considered one of the wonders of world. It must be seen to be believed, Gunung Batur (1717m - 5633ft), an active volcano, dominates the landscape.
We will then make our way to Ubud Cendana Resort & Spa was opened in 1992. Built in traditional Balinese architecture, with balcony overlooking beautiful rice field, it has lush garden set with various plants and flowers.
Cendana is the Indonesian name of a kind of fragrant wood called "Sandalwood", which in Bali is used for high quality carvings, ceremonial offerings (Banten), and traditional treatments.

After lunch will pass superb views of terraced rice fields in Tegallalang that lead us to the Holy Spring temple of Gunung Kawi Sebatu. As you enter, on your right, carp fill a large pool. A lovely small pavilion allows one to sit and meditate. Shrines fill the main temple with delightfully painted images of gods and demons. Known for its bathing pools and holy springs, The Holy Spring is a site for Balinese pilgrims.
We will follow a west-east road thru the sawah (rice fields) to Pura Samuan Tiga. “The Temple of the Meeting of Three”. The main gate and its elaborate tower was designed and built by on of Bali’s most renowned artists, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad. Past the, the inner courtyard is full of small thrones and meru shrines for the temple gods. The shrines are intricately decorated with touches of scenes from the Ramayana.
Finally, we will travel on to Goa Gaja, an ancient temple complex situated around an elaborately carved cave entrance. The Elephant Cave “ Goa Gaja” Goa Gajah is believed to have been carved from a hillside as a monastery in the 11th century, though it wasn't rediscovered until 1923. The name of this cave is probably taken from the nearby Petanu River, which at one time was known as Elephant River, or possibly because the entrance to the cave resembles an elephant. It is used by the Balinese as a holy place for worshipping the God Shiva and his elephant-headed son Ganesha. Inside the cave are meditation chambers and a statue of the Hindu god Ganesh. That eve, we will attend a Wayan Kulit shadow play in Ubud.
