Day 1
We will fly overnight to Liberia Costa Rica and then be transferred to Playa de Coco.
We will stay two nights at the Ocotal Beach Resort. Ocotal Beach Resort is a leader among Costa Rica's Hotels and Resorts, with an extra touch in style, comfort and service. The hotel lies along the beautiful Northern Pacific coastline, a privileged location with panoramic breathtaking views of Papagayo Gulf. The beach of Ocotal is calm, sandy and ideal for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing.
Day 2
We will start the day with yoga and meditation then have free time to go to the beach, relax at the pool or venture into nearby Playa de Coco. We will offer an optional snorkel trip for those interested.
Day 3
We will start the day with yoga and meditation. We will then board our bus for a 5 hour scenic ride to Volcan Arenal National Park and its exceptionally rich biodiversity. We will stay at the Lost Iguana Resort offering luxury accommodations in the rain forest. The resort's 100 acre property overlooks the world's most active volcano, Arenal Volcano located near La Fortuna, Costa Rica. A premiere, upscale retreat nestled gently in the jungle, the Lost Iguana Resort only offers rooms with large private balconies overlooking the Arenal Volcano and Arenal River Gorge.
Enjoy waking to the peaceful serenity of the jungle and the playful sounds of the local toucans and howler monkeys. Enjoy your coffee on your private balcony while viewing the majestic volcano and abundant wildlife.
More than 100 species of mammals, 350 different species of birds and a large variety of amphibians, reptiles and insects live in this Park. The still active Arenal volcano is the feature attraction. That evening we will have a welcome dinner at the Lost Iguana.
Day 4
We will start the day with yoga and meditation. After we will bus to the Tabacon Hot Springs, one of the most beautiful places you will ever see with views of Arenal Volcano, acres of tropical gardens, a great climate, and the soothing water of the river! The Tabacon River begins inside Arenal Volcano. The magma heats the water to 101 degrees, which then flows through the base of the volcano down about 3/4 mile to Tabacon Hot Springs. From here the river splits into several smaller rivers, joining with cool water from a different river to make dozens of pools of varying temperatures, shapes and sizes. We will enjoy the day here. lunch is included.
Day 5
We will start the day with yoga and meditation. Today we will have time to slow down and enjoy the rain forest and the Lost Iguana. Feel free to take a short bus ride to Hanging Bridges You will be able to walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges and the beautiful trails that are safe and easy to walk on; or visit the Danus Eco Center and learn about the ecology of the rain forest.. We will also offer an optional Waterfall Rappel or a Waterfall Hike.
Day 6
We will start the day with yoga and meditation. Afterward we will travel to the Village of Alciedes our Maleku Indian guide. It is located about 1 hour north of Arenal volcano. We are fortunate to be able to offer a day tour to meet Maleku families, enabling visitors to be privy to their rich heritage. Tour includes medicinal plant knowledge, guided tours to ceremonial sites, dances and crafts.
Day 7
We will start the day with yoga and meditation At 10:00 am. we will take a beautiful short drive along the Arenal Volcano to take you to the Sky Tram
From the Sky Tram you will enjoy a view of the forest, lake Arenal and Arenal volcano. The sky tram is 5,196 feet each way. You'll board one of the open gondolas that offer room for 6 people and fly quietly and slowly through the canopies of the rainforest near the Arenal Volcano
At the top you have a choice to take the gondola back down, or choose the exciting Sky Trek option: a Canopy Tour with high quality cables running from mountain to mountain zigzagging back to the base. That eve we will have our farewell dinner at the Lost Iguana.
Day 8
Our last morning in Costa Rica we will rise for early morning meditation and short yoga stretches and then board our bus for the 4 hour ride to San Jose, where we will fly home.
Helen began her journey with yoga in the early 80*s and has been teaching since 1996. Helen*s approach is playful, nurturing, and supportive as she encourages her students to discover an awareness of their inner self, while experiencing the healing that Yoga provides for the mind, body, and spirit.
